ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Monday ordered to register an FIR regarding the gun attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan within 24 hours.

The five-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial gave the orders and inquired IGP Punjab how much time he need to file the FIR of the incident.

“How much time will you take to file an FIR of the attack?”

The court also remarked that there should be a valid reason for not registering the case adding that if someone interferes with the duty of IG Punjab the court will look into it.

“If the FIR is not being registered within 24 hours then the court will take sou motu.”

The SC also said that a murder attempt was made on a national leader and under the criminal justice system, an FIR must be registered.

Pertinently, it’s been days since the gun attack on the former prime minister Imran Khan and the FIR is not being registered yet.
