Javeria Siddique says PIMS to provide Arshad Sharif’s post-mortem report on Monday

• She said mother of Arshad Sharif could tell how many pages were missing from the post-mortem report sent by Kenya.
• She said she had received a six-page report.
• On broadcasting pictures of Arshad Sharif by an anchorperson of a local TV channel, Javeria said the anchorperson and TV channel had apologized from the family.

ISLAMABAD: Wife of slain journalist and Bol News Anchorperson Arshad Sharif, Javeria Siddique on Friday said the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) said it would provide her husband’s post-mortem report on November 14, Bol News reported.

Talking to Bol News, Javeria Siddique said she contacted the PIMS administration and they said that the forensic test was taking time for the post-mortem report to be completed.

She said mother of Arshad Sharif could tell how many pages were missing from the post-mortem report sent by Kenya. She said she had received a six-page report only.

On broadcasting pictures of Arshad Sharif by an anchorperson of a local TV channel, Javeria said the anchorperson and TV channel had apologized from the family. “I was shocked to see the pictures. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) should not allow showing such pictures,” she said.

The wife of Bol News anchorperson, who herself is a journalist, said she was under immense pressure, hence, she appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to see the matter and provide her justice.

On November 9, global press freedom advocate, Reporters Without Borders (RSF), had called for a United Nations investigation into the brutal murder of well-known Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif.

“The information currently emerging from the Kenyan wing of the investigation is contradictory, and all independent attempts to get information are met with a wall of silence,” Sadibou Marong, director of RSF’s sub-Saharan Africa bureau, had said, according to a press release distributed worldwide.

“If the Kenyan authorities want to shed light on this murder, they must ensure that the investigation is not cloaked in imprecision and that it is independent and impartial.”
