KARACHI: Dengue fever cases have shown no let-up in the province as another person lost his life to the disease, BOL News reported.
The data released by the Sindh health department 20,202 cases have been reported across the province this year. During the past 24 hours, one person belonging to Hyderabad succumbed to the viral disease.
According to the report, the death toll in Sindh has reached 59, out of which 48 belong to Karachi. The report said that 130 cases were reported across Sindh in the last 24 hours, which including 81 cases from Karachi.
The Health Department said that 22 cases have been reported in Central District, 20 in Eastern District, 13 in Korangi District, 11 in Southern District, 6 in Western District, 7 in Malir, and two cases in Kemari District.
The report added 36 cases have been reported in Hyderabad, 3 in Mirpurkhas, 9 in Sukkur and one case in Shaheed Benazirabad. It said 59 people died in Sindh this year, of which 48 were from Karachi, 7 from Hyderabad, 3 from Mirpurkhas, while one belonged to Sanghar.
The Health Department said that 1,371 cases have been reported in Sindh since November 1. It mentioned that 8,914 cases were reported in October, while 7,585 cases were reported in the month of September.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, about 126 cases of dengue virus were reported on Thursday while no death was caused due to the virus during the last 24 hours.
According to the Health Department, a total of 16,769 cases of dengue virus have been reported so far during the current year. It added that 38 people died of virus and 869 patients were under treatment in different hospitals.
The Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department reported 64 cases of dengue in Lahore with highest number in the province.
It added that 24 cases were reported in Rawalpindi, 13 in Gujranwala, eight in Sheikhupura, three in Nankana Sahib, one each in Sialkot, Khanewal, Kasur, Attock, Okara, Sahiwal, Rahimyar Khan and Mianwali, two each in Chakwal, Sargodha, and Multan during the last 24 hours.
