ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has accelerated the preparations for the general elections and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has decided to call a weekly meeting to review the arrangements.
The Chief Election Commissioner has called a meeting on December 06. The Election Commission officials will be given an important briefing regarding the election preparations.
In the meeting, all the wings of the Election Commission will also give a briefing on the preparations, while an update will be given on the procurement of election materials, polling stations, and polling staff.
Apart from this, the participants will also be informed about the Result Management System (RMS) and polling station mapping and a briefing will be given about the availability of funds for the general elections.
It should be noted that the Election Commission has prepared a strategy for the general elections, non-sensitive materials have been purchased and paper for ballot papers has also been procured.
On the other hand, a technical grant was approved by the Election Commission of Pakistan for conducting general elections in the country.
In the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting chaired by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, a technical grant was approved by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The ECP requested Rs 47 billion for the general elections, but the grant of 47 billion rupees was not approved.
A technical grant of Rs 15 billion was approved for the Election Commission and the first installment of five billion rupees will be paid to the ECP.
