ISLAMABAD: Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, on Saturday said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was trying to destabilise economy of the country.

Addressing a presser in Islamabad, the information minister said there was nothing new in speech of Imran Khan and he wasted precious time of media and general public. She said this pointing towards the former prime minister’s address in which he announced to dissolve provincial assemblies next week.

Marriyum Aurangzeb blamed that Imran Khan staged drama of cipher in the country. She said all the fuss was to divert the attention from Toshakhana case.

She said the PTI chief was mourning over his compromise on Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence, and economy by accepting illegal foreign funding.

The minister, while castigating Imran Khan, said that four years of PTI rule was example of inefficiency, incompetence and lies.

She said the PTI chairman abused opponents, launched malicious campaign against martyrs and instigated a revolt against state institutions.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has announced to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies on Friday, December 23.

He said this while addressing a public gathering at Liberty Chowk via video link, while flanked by Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan.

Imran Khan said the decision was necessary as free and fair elections were essential for economic stability as the nation was sinking. “I fear the gang of thieves imposed on the country. Unless free and fair elections are not held, there will remain a fear that the country might sink,” he said.

He said businessmen had lost their investments and over 750,000 people including skilled workers had left the country in disappointment for the looters came to power. “You can ask any industrialist, labourer, and farmer; their finances cannot be managed amid the ongoing economic situation.”
