Pakistan has technically defaulted: Shaukat Tarin
ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Shaukat Tarin on Sunday revealed that Pakistan has technically defaulted.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Tarin while speaking on the Bol News program “Tabadili” said “If the dollar is frozen, there will be a big disaster compared with 1998.”

He said that the government has stopped giving dollars in the markets and added that the unannounced price of the dollar has reached Rs 265.
The former finance minister said that due to the expensive dollar, the import price will increase and inflation will increase further.
Shaukat Tarin further said that local industries are closing down and friendly countries are also saying that they will talk to stable countries.
A few days ago, the former finance minister Shaukat Tarin released the figures for the significant decline in sales of various products on social media.
He said that according to the sales data for July to October 2022, the sales of vehicles have decreased by 46 percent annually, while the sales of petroleum products have also declined by 22 percent annually.
He said that the sale of cement has fallen by 23 percent annually, while workers’ remittances have decreased by nine percent annually and power dispatch is also down by 10 percent.
He said that the October sales of fertilizers had decreased by 46 percent while the discount rate had increased to 16 percent.
