LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the slight reduction in petroleum prices and requesting the court to order the government to further decrease the prices of POL products as per the international market.

Head of the Judicial Activism Panel, Azhar Siddique, has filed a plea and stated that prices of petroleum products in the global market fell.

The petitioner said the government nominally reduced the rates of petrol and other POL products whereas the prices in the global oil market have drastically decreased recently.

He submitted that the prices of petroleum products should be reduced by 30 to 50 rupees as per the global market.

Petitioner requested the court to order the government to further reduce the prices of petroleum products.

On the other hand, Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Ishaq Dar announced that the price of petrol has been decreased by Rs10 to  reach Rs214.80 per liter for the next fortnight effective from December 16.
