ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Baragai police station in district Lakki Marwat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a statement, the prime minister said the entire nation saluted the huge sacrifices of police officers in their fight against terrorism.
Paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the police personnel, he said terrorists were the open enemies of Pakistan and the nation. “Those who have been shielding the nation against terrorists are our heroes,’ the prime minister said in a statement.
The prime minister further said the elimination of terrorists, their supporters and facilitators had been the national priority. He also urged the KP provincial government to provide Shuhada package to the families of martyred police personnel.
President Alvi expressed his resolve to continue efforts to completely eliminate the remnants of terrorism. Both the president and prime minister expressed their condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the high ranks of the departed souls and the early recovery of the injured.
Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani also condemned the incident and expressed their heartfelt regrets and sorrow over the loss of precious lives.
The Speaker said terrorism was a nefarious act of the terrorists through which they wanted to spread unrest in the country. He asked law enforcement agencies to apprehend the elements involved in the incident and bring them to justice.
Both prayed to Allah Almighty to raise the ranks of the martyrs and give the bereaved families courage and strength to bear this irreparable loss.
At least four policemen were martyred and different others got injured after terrorists attacked the Baragai police station late Saturday night. The terrorists attacked the Baragi police station with hand grenades and rocket launchers at midnight.
The martyred policemen included head constable Ibrahim, Imran, Sabz Ali, and elite force constable Khair-ur-Rehman while the injured policemen included Pas-e-Gul Sahib, constable Balqiyaz, constable Ameer Nawaz, and constable Farmanullah.
