ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders slammed the federal government after it reportedly refused to provide the list of the recipients of the gifts from the Toshakhana.
PTI senior leader Asad Umar said the federal government has told the court that details of the gifts bought from the Toshakhana cannot be given.
“This is the confession of Sharif and Zardari government. It has been proven that political revenge was taken against Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case,” he said.
PTI Sindh President and former federal minister Ali Zaidi said the details should be brought in front of the nation to know the truth.
“Those who were shouting for nine months about Imran Khan’s legally purchased watch are now silent,” he said in a tweet.
He said since the court has now asked for the details, it should be revealed once and for all so that the nation knows how Nawaz and Zardari looted the Toshakhana.
PTI’s Farrukh Habib said the list of gifts that Imran Khan brought from the Toshakhana has been issued but the Lahore High Court is asking for the details from 1947 till now.
He said the government is refusing to give the details to the court. He said the rulers should not escape but accept the challenge. He said the entire PDM will be disqualified if the details of Toshakhana are made public.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought the details of gifts taken from the Toshakhana since 1947 by politicians, bureaucrats and other officials.
LHC judge Justice Asim Hafeez sought details of the Toshakhana gifts over a citizen plea. During the hearing, the federal government’s lawyer informed the court that the sought details cannot be provided.
The court brushed aside the argument and directed the authorities concerned to submit the details of gifts taken from Toshakhana since 1947 by January 16.
