ISLAMABAD: The government has imposed section 144 in the federal capital on Friday for two weeks, with immediate effect in the backdrop of a suicide bomb attack early Friday, Bol News reported.
A notification regarding section 144 was issued by the local administration banning public gathering or march all over the city.
According to the notification, the district magistrate ICT under Section 144 of CrPC prohibited all kinds of corner meetings, jalsa, public gatherings and congregation in the federal capital, especially in the wake of upcoming local government elections.
It said recent threat alerts issued by the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and attack on police in the capital city, the security of Islamabad has been beefed up to obviate the threats.
Thus immediate prevention and speedy remedy were required, and directions appearing were necessary to protect public life and property.
Earlier, a blast took place in I-10 area of Islamabad that left one policeman dead and six others including two civilians wounded. The incident happened when the security officials tried to stop a vehicle for search.
As per details, in an alleged suicidal attempt, a bomber blew himself up upon being stopped by the police for a search that left at least four security officials wounded.
The initial reports said that the taxi was carrying a male and one female.
The police said that the “taxi” was stopped as it seemed suspicious to the cops. The vehicle had explosive material inside and the bomber blew himself.
Rana Sanaullah, Interior Minister, has announced to award Tamgha-e-Shujaat to Shaheed Adeel Hussain of Islamabad Police for exhibiting extraordinary courage and bravery to thwart suicide attack in Islamabad on Friday.
In a statement, he said Adeel Hussain was martyred in an attempt to save the federal capital from a major terrorist attack.
Rana Sanaullah said the award was recognition of Adeel’s sacrifice at state level. He said Shaheed Adeel Hussain’s widow would be recruited in Islamabad Police.
