LAHORE: Parliamentary committee is to meet today to deliberate on the selection of a caretaker setup in Punjab after the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly days ago.
The session is to meet at Punjab Assembly Secretariat today at 3:00 pm and will discuss the appointment of the caretaker CM.
The committee has only a day left for a consensus over the name and will be having time till 10:00 pm tonight to conclude.
On behalf of the government Mian Aslam Iqbal, Raja Basharat and Hashim Jawan Bakht will attend the session while Malik Ahmad Khan, Malik Nadeem Kamran and Syed Hasan Murtaza will be representing the opposition.
Pertinently, if the commission remained unsuccessful in deciding the name for the caretaker CM then the matter will go to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)
The government coalition has dropped the name of Naseer Khan and proposed the names of former Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema and Ahmad Nawaz Sukhira.
On the other hand, Senior journalist Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Ahad Cheema have been nominated by the opposition alliance.
