LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain takes notice of reports about Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s merging PML-Q into the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).

He called an emergency meeting over this report and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi‘s statement that he wanted to move forward with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

PML-Q Central Secretary General Tariq Bashir Cheema, Senior Vice President Chaudhry Salik Hussain and senior leader Chaudhry Shafi Hussain were also present in the meeting.

Referring to Parvez Elahi, Chaudhry Shujaat said that the “provincial president cannot merge the party into any other party. The PML-Q as a political party, has its own identity, vote bank, party discipline and manifesto. The violation is evident from the statements given to media last night.”

Through a notification, the PML-Q chief issued a show cause notice to Parvez Elahi and directed him to respond in seven days and suspended his basic membership. “You are requested to explain your unconstitutional and illegal action within these seven days.”

After which an action will be taken against you under Article No. 16 and Article No. 50 of the Party Constitution. Your basic party membership is suspended until you provide the clarification.

The development has taken place after Punjab Assembly dissolved on advice of Parvez Elahi and long after differences between the two Chaudhry brothers emerged over supporting the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).

On December 17, Parvez Elahi, the Chief Minister of Punjab, had said he was satisfied with PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s decision of dissolving the provincial assembly and would move forward with him.
