5.5 magnitude earthquake rattles Islamabad, parts of KP, Punjab
SWAT: Earthquake tremors have been felt in Mingora city of Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad, earthquake tremors were felt in Mingora city and its surrounding areas, the magnitude of which was 5.2 on the Richter scale.
The Seismological Center said that the depth of the earthquake was 179 km while the epicenter was the Hindu Kush mountain range.
Due to the earthquake, people came out of their houses to reciting Kalima Tayyaba and Istighfar.
Earlier on Sep 05, 2022, Earthquake waves of 5.4 magnitudes shook Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and portions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The National Seismic Monitoring Center (NSMC) determined that Afghanistan was the earthquake’s epicenter. The earthquake’s depth was 32 km, and its Richter scale magnitude was 5.4.
Since the earthquake, there have been no reported fatalities. It should be noted that earthquakes that are comparatively closer to the surface are likely to have negative long-term consequences on buildings.
