Few hours to selection of caretaker CM Punjab

LAHORE: A few hours have been left for consultations over the selection of the name for the caretaker chief minister (CM) Punjab as the constitutional time for the deliberation over the selection will end tonight at 10:10 pm.

Despite consultations and meetings, the name for the caretaker setup in Punjab has not surfaced so far with the clock ticking over the heads.

Besides, the outgoing chief minister has recommended the names of Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, Naseer Ahmed Khan, and Nasir Mahmood Khosa for the caretaker CM.

These three names were also sent to the Opposition Leader for consultation. However, one of the nominees Nasir Khosa has excused himself from taking over the slot.

On the other hand, the spokesperson for the Leader of the Opposition has contacted the CM Punjab and assured him of sending the suggestions soon.

It is pertinent to mention here that if the name of the caretaker would not announced by mutual consent then the matter will go to the parliamentary committee.

Notably, the governor has written the letter for the consultation over the name to the CM Punjab and the opposition leader on January 14.
