KARACHI: Chief Jamat e Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeem said Tuesday that there must be heavy deployment of rangers and the army at the polling stations during local government (LG) polls in Karachi.
He was addressing a presser when demanded the deployment of 5,000 army and rangers personnel at the polling stations for local body elections scheduled for January 15 adding that he will write to the ministry of defence, interior ministry and chief of the army in this regard.
Hafiz Naeem said that following the decision of the election commission regarding the polls, conspiracies are being cooked in the Governor House.
JI chief further said that the political parties who excel in impingement don’t want elections in the city.
While touching on the soaring crime rate in Karachi, he said that rangers must be given authority to combat the issue.
