LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has assigned tasks to provincial ministers in Punjab ahead of the vote of confidence by Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The former prime minister held a meeting with provincial ministers at his residence in Zaman Park. PTI parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Usman Buzdar was also present.
During the meeting, it was decided that the PTI has the complete number of lawmakers for the vote of confidence which will be held on January 11.
They also discussed the political situation in the province and the upcoming session of the Punjab Assembly on Monday, January 9.
They also discussed the upcoming elections in the country. “We will not let the imported government escape from the elections. They conspiracy group is also running from local bodies elections in Punjab,” Imran Khan told the meeting.
He said the government knows the people have rejected them. He added that they will reach out to the people for the next elections after the vote of confidence.
According to reports, the provincial ministers have been assigned duties regarding the vote of confidence. They have also been instructed to keep in contact with the MPAs in groups.
The provincial ministers were informed that PTI chairman is in contact with PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi. The ministers have been instructed by party leadership to not issue any statement regarding the vote of confidence.

There is an apparent rift between ruling allies PTI and PML-Q over Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s vote of confidence as the date draws closer.
However, Pervaiz Elahi said he would not seek a vote of confidence form the Punjab assembly. He said the order by Governor Balighur Rehman was illegal.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan brought forward the provincial assembly session by two days – from Jan 11 to Jan 9, raising speculation about whether the chief minister was ready to take a vote of confidence.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has bound the chief minister an undertaking not to dissolve the provincial assembly until the next hearing scheduled for January 11.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has tasked the party’s senior leaders to ensure that the provincial chief executive takes a vote of confidence.
