KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) leadership held a meeting today to discuss the strategy to combat the alleged rigging in the LG polls in Karachi.
PTI leader Ali Zaidi said that he and Hafiz Naeem were in contact pre and post-polls and appreciated the JI chief for reaching out to PTI.
Ali Zaidi said that both parties conclude to form a committee to resolve the matter. “We will be forming a joint committee of four members and to discuss and tally the form 11s both parties are having.”
He also underscored that the protection of the mandate is crucial for the city and maintained that the committee was formed for transparency in the results.
While slamming the PPP government Zaidi said that the Zardari mafia has not taken any progressive move for Karachi besides corruption and looting.
On the other hand, JI Chief Hafiz Naeem said that we had reservations over the electoral process of LG polls since the beginning but JI stood to its ground and went for LG polls.
He while slamming the electoral process said that form 11 was unavailable after the polling ends and the results were rigged, the Sindh government started changing the results and during the recounting maneuvering took place.
“During the recounting, Ali Zaidi was attacked and even JI’s workers were attacked. I told CM Sindh that he should respect our mandate.”
Hafiz Naeem also said that PPP’s delegation came to JI and they demanded that the local government should stop the maneuvering.
“In all this situation, we have decided to protect the mandate together and the committee is be formed and two members each party will be in the committee.”
