‘Other areas’ have less population, more seats: Faisal Sabzwari
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Faisal Sabzwari on Friday said “other areas” had less population and more seats, Bol News reported.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, while flanked by other MQM-P leaders including Waseem Akhtar, Mustafa Kamal, Farough Naseem and Farooq Sattar, Faisal Sabzwari said despite having more population, Nazimabad had less seats.
He said they approached the court and Election Commission of Pakistan over fake census. He asked what the ones demanding election did over the fake census. Ostensibly, pointing towards Jamaat e Islami, he said just by putting up banners one could not become mayor of Karachi.
“We are talking about rights of Karachi. Where we had one voter, in the other constituency there were three voters. A conspiracy has been hatched to divide votes of Mohajirs,” Farough Naseem said adding that the Sindh government had issued the notification utilizing constitutional authority.
He said they tried to convince the provincial government on the court verdict. A 10-day order was passed, when they convinced the Sindh government, he maintained.
The MQM-P leader said the Sindh government had created multiple UCs on December 31, 2021.
Farough Naseem claimed that a UC of 90,000 people was created on the MQM-P vote bank. While, UC of 30,000 people was hammered, where there was not MQM-P’s vote, he maintained adding that his party had challenged rigging based on constituencies.
He said the population of UCs forged by the provincial government was not correct. He said the Supreme Court directed them to approach the Sindh government and election commission. He said the MQM-P challenged the creation of constituencies and the case was heard in June last year.
“The Sindh High Court dismissed our petition saying that we were late. Hence, the vote bank of MQM-P has been cut by three times. MQM voters were downed in formation of constituencies,” he said.
It is pertinent here to mention that the MQM-P has demanded from the Sindh government and ECP not to hold the local bodies elections amid the controversy over constituencies.
