Pervaiz Elahi forwards three names for interim chief minister

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has written to Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman for the formation of caretaker government in the province.

Pervaiz Elahi sent a letter to Governor Punjab and proposed the names of three potential candidates for the post of caretaker chief minister.

The chief minister has recommended the names of Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, Naseer Ahmed Khan, and Nasir Mahmood Khosa.

PML-N has decided to consult with Pervaiz Elahi on the caretaker setup in Punjab. The party has decided to be part of the consultation process for the appointment of the interim chief minister.

Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz will nominate a representative on his behalf to as he is abroad and his return has been delayed.

The representative will meet with Pervaiz Elahi and consult on the names for the post of interim chief minister.

A day earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi held consultations with Chairman PTI Imran Khan on three names for the post of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab.

Speaking to media after meeting with Imran Khan here at Zaman Park, he said they have agreed on three names that would be forwarded to Punjab Governor.

He added that they had agreed upon the names of Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, Naseer Ahmad Khan and Nasir Mahmood Khosa for the caretaker chief minister.

“We are sending these three names for the caretaker CM to the Governor,” he said., adding that the opposition should also ponder over it so the one name could be decided out of these three names.
