KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Zaidi demanded to extend the polling time for the citizens of Karachi for two hours.
He was addressing the media when said that polling started late across Pakistan as presiding officers were not present at the polling stations and were not trained as well.
Ali Zaidi said that PTI is demanding on behalf of the nation the extension in time till 7pm today.
He also said, “We acknowledge that the ECP stood to its grounds and instructed to hold the election as planned.”
The PTI leader also urged the citizens to cast vote to choose the right candidate.
Pertinently, LG polls are underway in Karachi and Hyderabad today.
As per reports pouring in from different areas of Karachi, the polling at many polling stations started late due to the unavailability of staff.
Strict security measures have been put in place to ensure transparency. According to reports, police have deployed 52,591 officers to perform security duties in the city. This includes 35,360 personnel of Karachi Police while 17,231 have been brought from other districts of Sindh.
