Rehabilitation of flood affected people top priority of government: PM
QUETTA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that rehabilitation of flood-affected people is the priority of the government.
The Prime Minister while addressing a ceremony in Balochistan’s flood-affected city of Sohabtpur said that the federal government has spent more than 100 billion for the flood victims, but hundreds of billions more are required for the victims.
He said that a donor conference is being called in Geneva in this regard, to which various countries have been invited to donor conferences. He said yesterday, he also spoke to the new Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, who has assured him to help Pakistan in every possible way.
He said that the Secretary General of the United Nations is also visiting Geneva.
Prime Minister further said that the recent floods were a big challenge for Pakistan in which the mountains of Balochistan and the plains of Sindh were submerged. Meanwhile, the provincial government was trying day and night to help the victims.
The Prime Minister said that during the flood, 10 lakh houses were washed away in the water, and he would pay compensation for the reconstruction.
Talking about the economic conditions of Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that there is no doubt that inflation is very high, but when PDM got the government, the economic condition of Pakistan was very bad.
He said that due to the incompetence of the previous government, “We could not get the cheapest gas and due to this incompetence, they are ordering wheat by paying billions of dollars because the production was low and the demand was high, whereas 27 billion rupees are spent on oil annually.”
It should be noted that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has inaugurated a smart school in Sahabapur, which is a smart school built in a record period of two months in a flood-affected area.
