RAWALPINDI: Security forces on Thursday killed 11 terrorists including a commander and two suicide bombers during a raid in Wana, South Waziristan District, Bol News reported.
The military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation in general area Wana, South Waziristan district and successfully foiled a high profile terrorist activity.
“During intense exchange of fire, 11 terrorists including terrorist commander Hafiz Ullah alias Tor Hafiz and two suicide bombers were killed. A huge quantity of weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists,” the ISPR said.
The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of police in South Waziristan district.
On December 21, President Dr Arif Alvi had lauded the security forces for carrying out a successful operation against terrorists in Bannu and expressed resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country’s soil.
The president in a statement had termed the success a result of the professionalism of armed forces and their unwavering commitment against terrorism.
He had said the nation would always remember the sacrifices made against terrorism for national defence and security.
The entire nation, he had said, stood with its brave security personnel on operations against terrorists.
President Arif Alvi had paid tribute to the officials of the armed forces who were martyred during the operation.
