Sindh Rangers forms quick response force for Karachi LB polls
KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers has formed a quick response force comprising 700 personnel to ensure peaceful election process in Karachi, Bol News reported on Saturday.
A control room has also been established by the Sindh Rangers. “We will maintain law and order situation at all costs,” the Sindh Rangers said.
Sindh Rangers officials said they were ready to deal with any emergency situation. Monitoring of local bodies elections has started at the commissioner office and all the relevant officers including deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners have been convened at the commissioner office.
Additional Commissioner Dadlu Zuhrani addressed the meeting at the Commissioner Office. The meeting was briefed on the local bodies elections to be held on January 15 in Karachi.
Meanwhile, police have made all security arrangements for the local government elections being held in Karachi on January 15.
According to reports, police will deploy 52,591 officers to perform security duties in the city. This includes 35,360 personnel of Karachi Police while 17,231 have been brought from other districts of Sindh.
Police officials said 2,700 personnel have been brought from interior Sindh to South Zone, while 6,833 personnel have been brought from Sindh to East Zone. Police have deployed 7,698 additional personnel in West Zone, officials added.
The security personnel at all training centers across Sindh, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) unit, Special Security Unit (SSU), and district personnel have been called.
Police said 6-8 officials will be posted in the highly sensitive polling station. The reserve force will be used immediately to deal with an emergency situation
Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior has ordered deployment of Frontier Constabulary (FC) troops outside all highly sensitive and sensitive polling stations during LG elections in Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta divisions.
