LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says no stone will be left unturned to provide full support to the people of Turkiye in the wake of massive devastation caused by the earthquake.
He was talking to media at Lahore Airport ahead of dispatching relief items to Turkiye. Expressing concern about the rising death toll and destruction of infrastructure in Turkiye and Syria after the devastating earthquake, the prime minister said an air bridge has been established for the robust delivery of relief items to Turkiye.
He said that after the earthquake, an immediate connection was made to Turkish President and assured him for all out support to the people of Turkiye in this critical situation. He recalled the heartiest support of Turkiye to Pakistan on 2005 earthquake and 2010 flash floods.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that one more PAF plane loaded with relief goods will take off after a while. He said that National Logistic Corporation (NLC) trucks laden with one hundred tonnes of relief goods including blankets and winterized tents will be dispatched to Turkiye via Iran today,
Highlighting the steps taken for the rehabilitation of the people of Turkiye and Syria, the Prime Minister said that the federal government established a fund of ten billion rupees for earthquake victims.
He further said that thirteen centers have been made for collection of donations and all Chief Minister were further directed to establish centers at district level for the adequate collection of relief items for the earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria.
The prime minister paid gratitude to the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Sindh for dispatching Rescue 1122 teams and blankets to Turkiye.
Meanwhile, another relief consignment carrying about two hundred and fifty tents has been dispatched to Turkiye through a special flight from Islamabad International Airport.
Talking to the media persons on the occasion, Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir assured that maximum number of winterized tents will be sent for the earthquake victims of both Turkiye and Syria.
The Federal Minister said an air bridge has been established to ensure continuous dispatch of relief items to Turkiye and Syria.
Khurram Dastgir said that preparations are also being made to send the relief items through land and sea. He said we plan to send a truck caravan to both the calamity hit countries.
Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Faisal Karim Kundi said it has also been decided to establish camps at the district level to collect relief items for the quake victims. He said the philanthropists should generously contribute in order to extend help to the victims.
Senator Talha Mahmood said Turkiye has always stood by Pakistan in the hour of difficulty. He said the entire nation is aggrieved over the death and destruction caused by the calamity.
