Govt jacks up natural gas prices with big margin
KARACHI: Accepting another demand of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government has increased prices of the natural gas with big margin on Monday, Bol News reported.
As per the document available with Bol News, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has boosted the gas prices from January to June 2023.
Gas price for the commercial consumers has been raised from Rs1283 to Rs1650 per MMBtu. Gas price for the users buying in bulk has soared from Rs780 to Rs1600 per MMBtu. For K-Electric’s Sindh Nooriabad Power Company (SNPC) power plant, the gas price has swelled to Rs1050 per MMBtu. Earlier, it was Rs857 per MMBtu for the SNPC power plant.
For the factories of fertilisers, gas price has climbed to Rs1225 per MMBtu. The gas price for the cement industry has been increased from Rs1277 to Rs1500. The gas price per MMBtu for the export industry has been upped to Rs1100. Price of CNG per MMBtu has been increased to Rs1805.
