KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said the constitution of Pakistan was gift of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Bol News reported.

Addressing a ceremony to commemorate golden jubilee of the constitution, Murad Ali Shah said giving a constitution of consensus was a political historical achievement of Bhutto. “Bhutto gathered all the people to approve the constitution upon which all agreed. Implementation on the constitution is a fundamental duty of all the citizens,” he said.

The chief minister said defending the constitution was a responsibility of legislators, administration and judiciary. He said Article 62 and 63 were not used much before 2010. “Article 62 and 63 have been used for political reasons in the past,” he said.

Murad Shah said defending the constitution was responsibility of every citizen. He said the 18th Amendment was made in 2010.

On February 24, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry had appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to stand by the Constitution and right & justice and not be blackmailed by anyone.

He had said this while addressing a press conference at Zaman Park here.

Fawad had added that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is confronting the judiciary, the problem is not one or two judges but it is issue of the integrity snd honour of the institution.

He had asserted that the whole nation is looking towards the judiciary and it is supposed to stand by the constitution and maintain the rule of law in the country otherwise there is no constitution, leading the state and society to anarchy.

He had observed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz is openly abusing the honourable judges of Supreme Court in public meetings and trying to pressurise the judges to seek their favourite decision in ongoing cases.
