ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman on Saturday called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, they discussed the overall political situation of the country and other issues of mutual interest, PM Office Media Wing said.

Well-places party sources revealed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Shehbaz Sharif discussed various cases against PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman hoped that Imran Khan will be disqualified soon, party sources revealed. He further said PDM should not participate in the National Assembly by-elections, sources added.

The JUI-F chief said the election commission should give the election date while looking at the security and economic situation in Punjab.

They also discussed the upcoming All Parties Conference (APC) called by the federal government in Islamabad to discuss the law and order situation on February 7.

The prime minister during the meeting, all political parties should adopt an agreed plan of action on all national issues, including elections and the economy.

“Maulana Sahib, we are striving day and night to fix the country’s economy,” Shehbaz Sharif was quoted as saying. The prime minister also claimed that the wave of inflation will be controlled soon.

“We believe in constructive politics, this is not the time for destructive politics,” party sources quoted Shehbaz Sharif as telling the JUI-F chief.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an All Party Conference (APC) on February 7 to discuss the growing threat of extremism and terrorism.

He invited all the national political leaders, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who turned down the invitation.

An official statement said the APC will discuss the key challenges being faced by the country, including the terrorist attack on the mosque at the Peshawar Police Lines last week.’=
