LAHORE: Arrested leaders and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) are being shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Azam Swati, Umar Sarfraz, and workers voluntarily offered their arrests under the party’s campaign “Jail Bharo Tehreek (court arrest)” were first kept at camp jail.
They are being shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail through prisoner vans. The Punjab government may book these arrested leaders and workers for violating Section 144 imposed in Lahore before the PTI drive and damaging the police vehicles on Mall Road.
The care-taker chief minister has instructed the authorities concerned to deal with those who violated the Section 144.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said the Jail Bahro Tehreek has been kicked off and is an extension of the Haqiqi Azadi movement against the government.
In a video address to the nation, the PTI chief said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the nation should be prepared for new wave of inflation in the country.
He reminded the prime minister of the statements in the past against the PTI government and the long marches against them. “This is the era of social media. You should remember your statements against inflation when we were in power,” he said.
He said Shehbaz Sharif was part of the conspiracy to bring down his government. “Shehbaz, Zardari, and Bajwa conspired to bring my government,” he said.
He said the PTI government was also part of the IMF programme but inflation was 12 percent. He added that price of electricity, petrol, and other commodities increased three-fold and the dollar went up by Rs100 in the past few months.
He said the current government is responsible for the worst economic crisis in the past five decades. He said rather than calling for sacrifices by the people, the government should focus on bringing their ill-gotten wealth back to the country.
