Two labourers die as Bhara Kahu flyover’s pillar collapses
ISLAMABAD: At least two labourers died and three others got injured after pillar of Bhara Kahu flyover fell down as a trailer rammed into it on Saturday, Bol News reported.
Islamabad Police said multiple labourers got stuck under rubble of the under-construction pillar of the flyover. Heavy contingent of police and rescue organisations reached the spot to help the victims.
The Islamabad Police spokesperson said the wounded labourers were shifted to hospital for medical assistance. “The masses should avoid going to the site of the incident so that the rescue work could be done smoothly,” said the police.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has taken notice of the collapsing of shuttering of the under-construction flyover’s pillar in Bhara Kahu. He expressed sorrow over loss of the lives and directed the Islamabad chief commissioner to complete the rescue operation as soon as possible.
“The wounded should be provided all possible medical help,” he said praying for fast recovery of the injured.
The spokesperson of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, (PIMS), Islamabad, hospital said two injured and a body of labourer were brought to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the chief commissioner Islamabad has formed an eight-member inquiry committee into the incident, which include the Islamabad deputy commissioner, senior superintendent police, member engineering of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Nespak.
Rawalpindi and Islamabad rescue departments’ one each representative would also be included in the probe team.
The interior minister has directed the CDA chairman to find out whose negligence caused the accident.
