Accountability watchdog grills Usman Buzdar for hours
LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday interrogated former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in the case pertaining to assets beyond means of income and illegal assets, Bol News reported.
Usman Buzdar appeared before the accountability watchdog in Lahore. The NAB had also sought record of assets on Usman Buzdar and his family members’ names.
The NAB officials interrogated him for about two and a half hours.
On February 16, an accountability court had granted interim pre-arrest bail to former chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in an inquiry of illegal assets and misuse of authority initiated against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Buzdar had appeared before the court along with his counsel Barrister Momin Malik.
The counsel had argued that the NAB with mala fide intention and in connivance with the incumbent federal government had been politically victimizing the petitioner. He had said all the allegations against the petitioner were baseless.
He had said the NAB issued a call-up notice to the petitioner and also directed the police to ensure his appearance before the investigation team on Feb 16.
