The government of Punjab has made the decision to deny permission for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to organize a rally on March 19th.
Sources have reported that the PTI intended to host a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday, March 19th, but this plan has been halted by the Lahore High Court.
Concurrently, the provincial government of Punjab has also resolved to not grant permission for the PTI on this matter.
The provincial administration has clarified that the PTI will not be permitted to conduct any sort of meeting or rally. If the party proceeds with a rally on Sunday, Section 144 will be enforced.
It is important to mention that the Lahore High Court has not only extended the stay on former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrest by one day but also prevented the PTI from organizing a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday.
For context, Imran Khan had previously announced a historic rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, located at Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore, on Sunday, March 19th. This event was meant to serve as the launch for the party’s election campaign, despite existing security concerns.
