LAHORE: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday dispatched the fourth cargo plane carrying relief items for quake-hit Turkiye.
The NDMA dispatched the cargo plan with 90 tonnes load of 1,200 winterized fire-resistant family tents from Lahore. Former Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad and a journalist are accompanying the relief aid.
The special flight operation commenced on March 11. So far, 4,800 winterized tents (360 tonnes load) were dispatched in the flight operation.
The NDMA has lined up more than 34 cargo flights to speed up the dispatch of relief assisstance to Turkiye. The flight operations will continue till March 23.
Earlier, the NDMA sailed off another ship PNS Moawin with 550 tons of relief goods for quake-hit Turkiye and Syria from Karachi.
Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Turkish Consul General Jamal Sangu and Commander Pakistan Fleet Rear Admiral Faisal Abbasi graced the departure ceremony of the Ship.
The Turkish Consul General Jamal Sangu conveyed gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for extending humanitarian support in the aftermath of the deadly earthquake in his country.
The ship is carrying 2625 family-sized fire-resistant winterized tents and 38370 blankets making a total of 367 tons for quake-affected Turkiye, whereas 179 tons of aid consisting of 22,000 blankets, 144 tons of donations including essential items of daily use for Syria.
NDMA has so far dispatched 2812 tons of relief assistance to both countries containing Winterized family tents, blankets, ration packs and other essential items.
The authority is spearheading massive relief operations by using every possible available means of transportation to maximize assistance for the affected countries.
