PeaceFlix held workshop on digital journalism at Quetta Press Club
Quetta: A one-day training workshop on digital journalism and activism was organized by PeaceFlix for the students of the media department from different universities at Quetta Press Club.
Chief Guest of Quetta Press Club President Abdul Khaliq Rind was also present.
In the workshop, awareness was provided regarding digital activism, peace development, journalistic ethics, online journalism and psychological issues.
Speaking during the program, President Quetta Press Club Abdul Khaliq Rind told the participants that after radio newspapers and electronic media, now is the era of digital media.
“With the passage of time, journalism is also setting stages of development for which journalists working in the field and newcomers have to prepare,” he said.
During the workshop, Imran Khan, a lecturer of the Media Studies Department of University of Balochistan, provided awareness about journalistic ethics and media laws and said that journalistic ethics cannot be ignored.
As a journalist, responsibility is imposed to report the news without any bias.
Media trainer Manzoor Ahmed informed the participants about digital activism and said that in the modern era, social media is the best platform to raise voice on any issue.
Young journalists can play a role in solving social problems by using modern media, says Manzoor.
Media trainer Asim Ahmed told about digital media that students and young journalists can report according to modern requirements by using online tools.
Asim Ahmed also told the participants how to use modern tools. Psychologist Sadia expressed to the participants that psychological problems can be faced due to hashtags and personal accusations, the solution of which is the responsibility of not only awareness. Psychological problems are also increasing in the digital era, which must be understood.
Muhammad Ghazanfar, organizer of the workshop on behalf of Peace Flix, thanked the participants and said that the objective of the session was to provide awareness about peace, ethics and the use of social media to the in-study and pass-out students.
At the end of the workshop, media department students Zainab, Romaisa, Sakeena, Laiba Shah, Faisal Liaquat Rafiq and others said that such training programs should be more so that the students can be prepared with the awareness of new challenges.
On this occasion, chief guests and trainers were awarded shields while the participants were awarded with certificates.
