PNS Nasr is carrying relief items for Syria and Turkiye.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Nasr carrying relief assistance to the quake-affected people of Syria reached the port of Latakia on Monday.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) dispatched the first sea cargo through PNS Nasr on February 28 to Turkiye and Syria.
The consignment contains blankets, generators, dry rations, medicines, and clothing for quake-hit Syria. After unloading the aid in Syria, the ship will move to Turkiye, the NDMA said.
The ship was received by the senior most Syrian Naval Command, government officials, including the education minister and governor of Latakia, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Syria Air Marshal (retired) Shahid Akhtar, students, and a large number of locals.
The attendees of the special ceremony chanted anthems to express their gratitude for the Pakistani nation.

Earlier, the NDMA sailed off another ship PNS Moawin with 550 tons of relief goods for quake-hit Turkiye and Syria from Karachi.
Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Turkish Consul General Jamal Sangu and Commander Pakistan Fleet Rear Admiral Faisal Abbasi graced the departure ceremony of the Ship.
The Turkish Consul General Jamal Sangu conveyed gratitude to government and people of Pakistan for extending humanitarian support in the aftermath of the deadly earthquake in his country.
The ship is carrying 2625 family-sized fire-resistant winterized tents and 38370 blankets making a total of 367 tons for quake-affected Turkiye, whereas 179 tons aid consisting of 22000 blankets, 144 tons of donations including essential items of daily use for Syria.
So far NDMA has dispatched 2812 tons of relief assistance to both countries containing Winterized family tents, blankets, ration packs and other essential items.
NDMA is spearheading massive relief operations by using every possible available means of transportation to maximize the assistance for brothers and sisters of affected countries.
