LAHORE: A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist died from violence and brutality by Punjab Police as the party attempted to take out a rally in Lahore.

Ali Bilal was present at the rally near Mall Road when police resorted to baton-charge and fire tear gas shells at the party workers. Several PTI workers including Ali Bilal were arrested for violating imposition of Section 144.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan has strongly condemned the killing of party worker during the shelling and torture by Punjab Police.

In a tweet, the PTI chief said “unarmed, dedicated, and passionate” worker Ali Bilal was “murdered” by Punjab Police.

He condemned the “shameful” brutality on unarmed PTI workers coming to attend the election rally. “Pakistan is in the grip of murderous criminals,” he said.

He added that they will murder case against Inspector-General Punjab, CCPO Lahore and other responsible for the murder.

In another tweet, Imran Khan shared a video of PTI workers includes Ali Bilal being arrested and taken away in a police van.

He said the video clearly shows that Ali Bilal was alive when taken to police station and he was killed while in police custody.

He called on all district presidents and office bearers across Pakistan to offer funeral prayers in absentia for martyred worker Ali Bilal tomorrow.

PTI leader Hammad Azhar said that PTI’s long-time activist Ali Bilal, also known as Zale Shah, was martyred in police brutality.

PTI’s Mussarat Cheema said the “blood of an innocent patriotic citizen” is on the hands of those who today policemen to attack people. She said women were beaten and tortured and they no longer hope for justice from this system.

“Rana Sana and Mohsin Naqvi succeeded in their mission. They took away her son from a mother and her brother from a sister,” she added.

She said they knew that police officers were out for blood on the orders of their masters so they didn’t take out a rally. She said Rana Sanauallah still managed to repeat a tragedy in Model Town.

PTI Farrukh Habib said the Fascist government unleashed brutality and old PTI worker Ali Bilal has been martyred by police brutality and violence. He said the imported government has started shedding bloods of workers.
