PTI demands list of gifts retained by general and judges.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the formation of an independent commission to probe the matter of Toshakhana items retained by dignitaries and whether the gifts were mentioned in tax returns.
The Cabinet Division has released the partial details of Toshakhana items since 2022 on the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The list includes public office holders including former presidents, prime ministers, federal ministers, Chairman Senate, and other officials.
The documents reveal most of the gifts were retained by the office holders free of cost except for a few ones. The public officeholders also gave away gifts worth millions of rupees to foreign dignitaries.
In a video statement, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry demanded an apology from the PML-N for the false propaganda against Imran Khan and his wife.
He said that the list of Toshkhana gifts had revealed how the “Sharif and Zardari families looted the Toshakhana”
He said the list is evidence of the way these families betrayed the people of Pakistan. He said Zardari and Nawaz Sharif openly violated Toshakhana laws by receiving luxurious vehicles.
He said for the last eleven months, the PML-N has been leveling a string of accusations against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi related to the Toshakhana.
He said Imran Khan was the only one who retained gifts through legal ways. He added that his party chairman had retained the least number of gifts.
He claimed that the Zardari and Sharif families “blatantly misused the law” and retained gifts worth millions.

Chaudhry further said that the list released by the government was “incomplete” as it only included records from 2002. He demanded that the gifts retained by judges and generals should also be disclosed.
“A list of gifts retained since before 1988 should be released and along with that, the gifts of generals and judges should be included in the list,” he added.
The PTI leader also requested the Lahore High Court to form an independent judicial commission to determine if the payments of the gifts were made as per the law and whether they were declared.
Chaudhry also stated that an independent commission should probe the matters of the Toshakhana gifts.
