- IG Punjab, CCPO named in the petition
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) approached Lahore High Court (LHC) against the brutality of the police at Zaman Park.
IG Punjab, CCPO and others have been singled out in the application against the violence being carried out at Imran Khan’s residence.
The petition filed in the court submitted that the police raided Zaman Park under the guise of an arrest warrant. “Dozens of workers are seriously injured by police.”
The petition also maintained that Imran Khan has also submitted a surety bond to appear in the court and the police and administration have been disrupting the peace and order due to political pressure.
“The police have taken away basic rights by shutting down electricity, water, roads around Zaman Park.”
The plea also requested the court to immediately bar the police from conducting an operation in Zaman Park.
Pertinently, the clash between the police and PTI workers started yesterday when the police once again tried to arrest Imran Khan from his residence.
Hundreds of PTI workers along with party leaders gathered at the spot and the police had to retort to tear gas shelling and water cannons.
