ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Saturday said 4,000 personnel including officers of Islamabad Capital Territory Police, Frontier Corps and Punjab Police would perform security duty during hearing of Toshakhana case at the judicial complex in Islamabad, Bol News reported.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would appear at the judicial complex for criminal proceedings in the Toshakhana case. On this occasion, Section 144 has been imposed across the capital territory and all the routes leading to the judicial complex have been sealed by placing containers on them.

Police said, under Section 144, carrying weapons whether by security guard or an individual was banned. They instructed people to keep evidence of ownership of the vehicle with you.

Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal has summoned Imran Khan for indictment in the Toshakhana case. The venue of hearing was changed on request of the former prime minister as the hearing of the case would now be held at NAB Court-I.

The court had fixed the date for Khan’s indictment on January 31. On continuous non-appearance, the court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant for Imran Khan on February 28. Then implementing the arrest warrant, the court had directed to produce him on March 7.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) intervened and suspended the former Pakistan captain’s warrant on March 7 and ordered him to appear on March 13. On again not appearing in the case on March 13, the court reinstated his arrest warrant on March 13 and directed the concerned authorities to produce him before the court on March 18.

On March 17, the IHC once again suspended the warrant and directed him to appear on March 18.
