Workshop on News Authenticity Tools to Counter Fake News and Anti-State Propaganda
A two-day training workshop titled “News Authenticity Tools to Counter Fake News and Anti-State Propaganda” was organized by the Pakistan Information Center Quetta, a subsidiary organization of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Young, senior journalists and Media activists participated in workshop. Detailed lectures on fake news were provided in the two-day training workshop.
Participants were informed about the tools that can be used to correct misinformation. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the workshop, senior journalist and analyst Shahzad Zulfiqar said that fake news is one of the biggest challenges of the present era and the responsibility of tackling it lies with all of us.
It is important for a journalist to fact-check and verify the accuracy of news from other sources. He said that training workshops on fake news by Pakistan Information Center is an excellent step. More such training sessions need to be organized in future.
Director Public Relations and Regional Information Officer PID Abdul Manan also addressed the workshop. Certificates and shields were distributed to the participants at the end of the workshop.
