SWABI: The district and sessions court of Swabi on Thursday sent former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser to jail on judicial remand, Bol News reported.

Asad Qaisar was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Khalil Khan in the district. He was arrested from Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi on charges of assault.

The Pakistan Tehreeke e Insaf (PTI) leader and former speaker NA has been sent to jail on judicial remand.

On November 14, a judicial magistrate in Swabi had handed over former National Assembly speaker and PTI leader Asad Qaiser to the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on a two-day physical remand in an alleged corruption case.

The Anti-Corruption authorities had pursued allegations against PTI leader of corruption in the purchase of medical equipment for Gaju Khan Medical College Swabi.

During the court appearance, the Anti-Corruption agency had sought a ten-day physical remand, a request that the court promptly rejected.

As a result, Asad Qaiser was handed over to ACE on the approved two-day remand.
