Pervez Elahi arrest: LHC reserves verdict on contempt case against Islamabad IG, others
The Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on contempt of court case against Inspector General (IG) Islamabad and other officers in Pervez Elahi arrest case.
A contempt of court case had been initiated against Inspector General (IG) Islamabad and other officers over failing to ensure safe return of PTI President Pervez Elahi to his home.
Expressing concern over the IG’s non-appearance in contempt of court proceedings, the court remarked that such behavior is surprising.
It raised questions about why the IG appeared before the Islamabad court in contempt of court proceedings.
Shan Gul Advocate, representing the case, urged that the Secretary Establishment should be summoned, emphasizing the need to comply with the court’s order.
The court stated that the court decision will be communicated to the Advocate General Islamabad.
The court was also told that Pervez Elahi was apprehended by Islamabad Police, and the Islamabad High Court did not declare his detention illegal.
AG Islamabad informed the court that the IG Islamabad could not appear in the Supreme Court due to his appearance in the Islamabad High Court.
