SHC orders demolishing illegally constructed four-story building in Paposh Nagar
The Sindh High Court on Wednesday ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to demolish the illegally constructed four-story building in Paposh Nagar, Liaquatabad Town.
The court directed SBCA to demolish the building situated at Plot No. 12/5, Sector 5A, and submit a comprehensive report.
Upon the court’s orders, the SBCA has already taken action by demolishing the fourth floor of the building.
The advocate representing SBCA asserted that the entire construction was unauthorized, with no building construction map even obtained from SBCA.
During the court hearing, the SBCA advocate expressed frustration over the lack of cooperation from other institutions in the matter.
The court was informed that electricity, water, and gas connections to the illegal building would be severed as part of the demolition process.
Justice Abdul Rehman raised questions about the existence of a water tank in the building, suggesting that it should be demolished first.
The court firmly directed the demolition, emphasizing the need for compliance with the order.
During the proceedings, petitioner Muhammad Azam requested to withdraw the petition, but the court rejected the application, stating that it could not be withdrawn at this stage.
Justices Nadeem Akhtar affirmed that the court’s order for demolition would be implemented.
In furtherance of the demolition process, the court has ordered the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central and Deputy Commissioner Central to assist SBCA in executing the demolition of the illegal building.
The court set a deadline for SBCA to complete the demolition and submit a detailed report by December 18.
