
PM stresses need for comprehensive reforms in health sector
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar chaired a meeting of the task force dedicated to reforms in medical education and patient care in Pakistan.
During the session, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of aligning medical education with contemporary requirements.
The meeting featured a briefing on the strategy devised to elevate the health sector in Pakistan to international standards.
Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms in the health sector to meet global demand for skilled healthcare professionals.
Addressing the significance of nursing, the Prime Minister highlighted its crucial role and called for increased attention to its development.
Various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Higher Education Commission, and medical universities, presented measures taken for health sector improvement.
A three-phase strategy for health sector reforms, aiming to implement international standards and regulations, was outlined during the briefing.
The strategy encompasses reforms at both graduate and postgraduate levels in the health sector.
PM Kakar commended the efforts of the Task Force for Health Sector Reforms, led by Special Assistant Dr. Amir Bilal, and expressed appreciation for their initiatives in advancing healthcare in the country.
