Verdict reserved on case of removing PTI chairman from post
The Election Commission of Pakistan has reserved its decision in the case to remove Imran Khan from the post of PTI chairmanship.
The matter was heard by a 5-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja.
During the hearing, Chairman PTI’s lawyer, Shoaib, and petitioner Khalid Mahmood Advocate presented their arguments.
Shoaib Shaheen, representing Chairman PTI, stated that they had submitted the record of inter-party elections to the Election Commission and urged for the case to conclude.
He emphasized that legally, the matter is over, as the party now has a new chairman.
In response, Chief Election Commissioner suggested that if the petitioner, Akbar S. Babar, wishes to pursue the case further, he should file a petition.
This prompted concerns from Shoaib Shaheen, after the judge pointed out Shoaib that this would also give Khalid Mahmood the opportunity to file a petition against the new chairman.
The Election Commission, after considering the arguments presented, decided to reserve its decision in the case to remove Imran Khan from the post of PTI chairmanship.
