IPP leader Aamir Kiani withdraws nomination papers
ISLAMABAD: Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Aamir Mehmood Kiani has pulled back his nomination papers from two National Assembly constituencies in Islamabad.
This decision comes after unsuccessful negotiations between his party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding a seat adjustment.
Aamir Mehmood Kiani had filed nomination papers for NA-46 and NA-47, intending to be the joint candidate representing both his party and the PML-N. However, he withdrew his nomination papers from both constituencies when the IPP and PML-N could not reach an agreement on seat adjustment.
Earlier reports on January 10 had indicated that the PML-N planned to withdraw its candidate in support of IPP President Aleem Khan. The decision involved withdrawing the PML-N candidate from NA-117 Lahore, as the two parties had reached a seat adjustment agreement for another National Assembly seat.
According to sources, IPP President Aleem Khan will now be contesting the elections from NA-117, having withdrawn his nomination papers from NA-119. This move signifies his decision not to compete against PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz in the upcoming elections.
