In a sigh of relief for inflation-hit Pakistan, Utility Stores Corporation (USC) announced cut prices of basic commodities including cooking oil and ghee.
As Ramadan approaches, governments worldwide often decrease food prices, recognizing the increased demand during this period when families gather for special meals and fasting occurs throughout the day. To meet this demand, food giants and markets commonly offer discounts and promotions on basic food items.
Amidst record-high food prices in Pakistan, the Utility Stores Corporation has introduced a 17 percent discount on various brands of cooking oil, ghee, tea, and detergents.
The Utility Stores Corporation has confirmed that this price relief will take effect immediately and is distinct from the upcoming Ramadan relief package, which is scheduled to commence on March 4 and will exclusively benefit BISP beneficiaries.
Currently, Utility Stores offer more than ten brands of oil and ghee, all of which have received price reductions as part of this initiative.
Products | Old Price | New Price |
Cooking Oil | Rs 590 per kg | Rs 490/kg |
Ghee | Rs430 per kg | s480 |
Additionally, the cost of branded tea has been slashed by Rs 110 for 800-gram packs, now priced at Rs 2085 as opposed to the previous rate of Rs 2195.
Moreover, prices of various brands of washing powders have been decreased by Rs 187 for 6kg, Rs 124 for 3.6kg, Rs 124 for 4kg, Rs 116, and Rs 94 across different pack sizes.
