JI refuses to cooperate with PTI in government formation
Peshawar: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has refused to cooperate with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in government formation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
The central vice chairman of JI, Liaquat Baloch, said that Jamaat-e-Islami has decided that it cannot cooperate with PTI.
Liaquat Baloch said that talks with PTI were related to both federal and provincial governments, but PTI has allied with another party at the federal level, so there is no justification for an alliance with PTI only in KPK.
Muhammad Ali Saif, while talking to the media, said that JI has no representation in the provincial assembly, due to which there is no justification to form a government with them. Discussions were going on with Jamaat-e-Islami only on government formation in KP.
Barrister Saif further said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf is looking at the legal procedure for government formation.
It should be noted that earlier, JI leader Liaquat Baloch had confirmed the contacts for government formation on behalf of PTI and had said that, in respect of public mandate, JI would support PTI if necessary.
