20 kg Flour bag price big drop in Punjab
Flour prices in Punjab have seen a significant drop, with flour mills slashing the cost of a 20 kg bag by Rs. 200. This reduction follows a previous decrease of Rs. 80 last week, resulting in a total decrease of Rs. 280 in just 8 days.
Various brands of 20 kg flour bags are now priced between Rs. 2400 to Rs. 2565 in Punjab stores.
Private flour prices have notably decreased compared to government flour, with the government fixing the price of a 10 kg bag at Rs. 1399 and 20 kg at Rs. 2790.
The decline in private flour prices is attributed to a decrease in wheat prices in the open market. While the food department has set the selling price of wheat for flour mills at Rs. 4700 per maund, new indigenous wheat from Karachi arrived in Lahore at a lower price of Rs. 4025.
The arrival of Punjab’s new wheat is anticipated in the market soon, with an expected price of around Rs. 3500. However, the purchase of imported wheat from Karachi to Lahore, priced at Rs. 4000, has been halted in Punjab.
The Punjab Food Authority, under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has ensured a foolproof screening system.
Quality checks are conducted on items in Ramadan care packages to prevent substandard goods from reaching citizens.
Each bag is tracked through modern technology, minimizing the risk of substandard items entering the market.
The Ministry of Industries spokesperson condemns baseless propaganda regarding the Ramadan Care package, emphasizing the rigorous screening process and the commitment to delivering quality items to citizens.
