BISP has begun distributing Rs 10,500 to deserving families as part of the Kafaalat program’s quarterly cash assistance for January–March 2024.
The Benazir Kafaalat Programme, launched in 2008, is a key initiative of BISP and has become Pakistan’s largest cash transfer program. It aims to provide cash assistance to eligible families, particularly women, to mitigate the impact of economic challenges like slow growth, food crises, and inflation. Its long-term goals align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on eradicating extreme and chronic poverty while empowering women.
BISP is currently offering cash assistance to over 9 million families through the Benazir Kafaalat program.
The reports indicate that BISP has commenced the disbursement of Rs 10,500 as a quarterly payment to registered families for the January–March 2024 period across all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistaan.
The payment of Rs 10,500 will assist families in easing their financial challenges during the holy month of Ramadan in 2024.
The government has recently raised the quarterly payment from Rs 8,500 to Rs 10,500 for registered families to alleviate the impact of inflation.
