Guide to obtaining a new gas connection in Punjab: process & requirements

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is experiencing a significant influx of requests for new gas connections from various cities in Punjab, particularly Lahore, following the government’s decision to resume the issuance of new gas meters nationwide.

Here’s a comprehensive guide on the process of getting a new gas connection:

Installation Charges:
The installation fee for a gas connection in a house covering an area of up to 10 marlas is 6,000 rupees. For houses exceeding 10 marlas, the fee is 7,500 rupees.

Application Submission:
If the gas network is operational in your area in Lahore, you can either collect an application form from the nearest office or submit it online. Applications can be submitted at the Regional Office, Sub-Office, or the nearest Customer Services Center for your convenience.

Required Documents:

You need to submit a copy of your National Identity Card, proof of house ownership, and a gas bill from the nearest neighbor’s house along with the application form. It’s essential to obtain an official receipt after submitting the application.

Proposal Letter or Demand Notice:
After submitting your application, a department officer will conduct a survey to determine the feasibility of issuing a proposal letter or demand notice.

Security and Service Charges:
The security and service charges must be paid in accordance with the terms specified in the proposal letter or demand notice to proceed with the connection.

For houses covering an area of up to 10 marlas, the service line charges are Rs. 1,500, and the security charges amount to Rs. 4,500. For larger houses exceeding 10 marlas, the service line charges are Rs. 3,000, while the security charges remain Rs. 4,500.
